Strange Light In SoCal Sky Caused By Space Force Launch

Not a lot is publicly known about Thursday night's U.S. Space Force launch from Vandenberg Space Force Base​.

LOS ANGELES, CA —The Southland was treated to an unexpected light show in the sky Thursday night thanks to a launch from Vandenberg Space Force Base.

Not a lot was immediately known about the rocket launch reportedly commissioned by the U.S. Space Force. It took place at 7:27 p.m. and left a glowing, squiggly trail across the night sky that could bee seen across Southern California.

The launch was Firefly Alpha, a small launch vehicle developed by the American company Firefly Aerospace for small satellite launches.

According to rocketlaunch.live, the mission was a "Responsive space mission for the USSF's Space Systems Command."
