Woman Tied Up And Pistol-Whipped In Beverly Grove Home Invasion

LOS ANGELES, CA — A man hiding behind a ski mask broke into a Beverly Grove home Wednesday and tied up and pistol-whipped a 71-year-old woman while ransacking her house, according to the Los Angeles Police Department and broadcast reports.

The suspect assaulted the homeowner Wednesday before making off with a trove of high-end watches and fleeing. The LAPD could not immediately confirm what was stolen.

The break-in was reported just after 2:25 p.m. Wednesday at the home located in the 6600 block of West Sixth Street, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Rosario Cervantes told City News Service.

No suspect description was available.

The victim was rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital. The crime rattled the community.

"It's just awful," neighbor Jason Anish told ABC7 Eyewitness News. "Obviously things have changed over the past couple of years. Crime is rampant in this city. Something needs to happen. Especially when people are being tied up in their homes and they're being held up for valuables. Something's gotta change. It can't continue down this path."
