FULLERTON, CA —A Huntington Beach resident was arrested Thursday night, on suspicion of murdering a Cal State Fullerton faculty member Steven Chan, Fullerton Police Chief Robert Dunn said.
Chuyen Van Vo, 51, was arrested at his Orange County home after a day-long investigation, according to Dunn.
"Members of our department and the CSUF department have worked around the clock since the investigation began," Dunn said. Specific information on how the suspect was located was not shared, as to the continuing investigation.

According to officials, Vo was a co-worker of Chan's but police declined to comment on the nature of their acquaintance.
"Our hearts are with Steven Chan's family, and everyone in our community," the CSUF president said. "I am grateful that the investigation led to an arrest and provided for the health and safety of our campus and our community."

On Monday, the body of Steven Shek Keung Chan, a former faculty member of the university, was found inside his car in Lot S off College Park and Langsdorf Drive on the Cal State Fullerton campus.
Video caught a suspect running from the scene just before 8:30 a.m., matching witness reports, police said.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find Chan's body inside the vehicle and pronounced him dead. Fullerton Police sought the public's assistance through the video release.

In that footage, shot from the many cameras in the area, the suspect could be seen fleeing the car, heading toward the Marriott building after the stabbing.

The suspect was described as of "Asian descent," according to Radus. He was seen entering a BMW X6, a newer model four-door, with dark-tinted windows, shortly after the stabbing.
Also at the scene, police found an incendiary device, knife--not the murder weapon-- and a satchel filled with tools "that could be used in a kidnapping plot, such as zip ties, wigs, and other disguises," Radus said.
The backpack that was recovered underneath the silver Infinity belonged to Vo, Radus said.
Police suspected that they believe the "killer sustained injuries to one or both of his hands during the attack," Radus said. On Monday, he added that the motive was not known, but the police did believe that his assailant had targeted the victim.
Cal State Fullerton released a statement regarding Chan's death late Monday, saying:
"It is with such a heavy heart and a deep and profound sense of sadness that we inform you that our colleague and friend, Steven Chan, a beloved and long-serving member of the Titan Family, passed away... after a tragic and senseless attack in the parking lot behind College Park."
Since the homicide, police have increased their presence on the CSUF campus. This was an isolated incident, and there was no indication of additional danger to the campus or surrounding community, according to officials.
