Bomb Threat Triggers Golden West College Evacuation

A bomb squad is investigating a bomb threat made at a Golden West College Library.

A bomb threat directed at Golden West College’s library in Huntington Beach today prompted authorities to evacuate the building and call in explosives experts.

Huntington Beach police were called at 11:29 a.m. about the bomb threat, which was made in a chat room, according to Officer Jennifer Marlatt.

An Orange County sheriff’s bomb-sniffing dog did not find anything in the library and an all-clear was declared about two hours later, Marlatt said.

It was not immediately clear if the suspect who made the threat ā€œlogged on in the library or logged into the chat room from somewhere else,ā€ she said.

Investigators will check the IP address where the threat originated to see if it came from a computer in the library, Marlatt said.

The threat indicated there was a bomb in a book, but no other details, Marlatt said.
