Is California Losing It's Appeal? I Think Not
Surprisingly, Denver and Miami beat Los Angeles as the most desirable city to move to. Does that mean California is losing it's appeal?

You and I both know that Los Al is a wonderful place to live. When I moved here in 2013, it quickly felt like home. With a beach, a family-friendly community and a hometown appeal who wouldn’t want to live here?
In general, California is just a great state all-around. However, in a recent survey, Los Angeles was voted the third most desirable city for a future move. Denver, CO was rated the top city Americans want to move to, and Miami was second. This was surprising to me because so many people are eager to hop on the “West Coast” bandwagon (myself included). The west coast is the best coast right?
It got me wondering if we'll be seeing less people migrating to our area in the coming years. It certainly still feels like people want to move to Los Angeles. In fact, the Wall Street Journal estimates that 337,000 people move to California each year. Although, admittedly, California is one of the most expensive places to live in the United States, the unemployment rate is low, and the weather is great. You just can’t compete with the lifestyle in Southern California. Everywhere you look, people are out and about, as there is such a strong culture of fitness here.
The survey also found that most Americans move due to a job relocation or the search for a better neighborhood, but a significant amount of respondents stated that they would move for love. A change in marital or relationship status was the reported reason for a move among 10% of Americans.
Personally, I moved to the area just to try something new and I’m surprised that more people didn’t choose the LA area as the place they’d most like to live.
So why did you decide to call Los Alamitos home? Did you grow up here, move for love, or move for work? No matter the reasoning, I think we can all agree that it’s great to be here!
