Car Strikes 64-Year-Old Man on PCH
Witnesses say the man was trying to cross the street in Surfside without using a crosswalk.

A 64-year-old man is in the hospital this morning after he was struck by a car in Surfside while trying to cross Pacific Coast Highway.
No one was arrested following the accident, which occurred at 7:35 p.m. Tuesday at PCH and Anderson Street.
According to Sgt. Steve Bowles of the Seal Beach Police Department, āSeveral witnesses said the pedestrian was attempting to cross PCH outside of a sidewalk or controlled intersection⦠The driver of the vehicle was interviewed and released. It was determined the driver of the vehicle had not been drinking.ā

Orange County Fire Authority paramedics treated the man at the scene and rushed him to Long Beach Memorial, where he is being monitored but is likely to survive, according to Bowles.
The multi agency STAR (Serious Traffic Accident Response) Team comprised of officers of the Seal Beach Police Department, Cypress Police Department and the Los Alamitos Police Department responded to the collision and is conducting the investigation. The Seal Beach Police Department is requesting anyone who witnessed the collision to contact Traffic Investigator Joe Garcia with any information at 562.799.4100 x 1649.
