Coronavirus Update For Los Alamitos: Latest News, Numbers

LOS ALAMITOS, CA — Orange County Health Care Agency reported 75 more residents afflicted with the coronavirus, Tuesday. Los Alamitos's total cases of coronavirus edged up to 63 total residents coping with the virus.

Out of the county's 3.2 million residents, just over 83,000 have been tested. Of those, 4,500 were found to have contracted the virus.

Thus far, 513 of the positive cases were found at Orange County nursing homes, and 350 cases are inmates at Orange County jails.

As of Tuesday, there are 229 Orange County residents hospitalized due to the virus, and 86 of those are in intensive care battling the disease.

Thus far, 88 people have died as a result of the virus. Of those, 23 were residents of skilled nursing facilities. No inmates have died as of this report.

Though the OC Health Care Agency reported a mere 115 tests on Tuesday, the low number was due to a "state reporting issue," they said. The total number of coronavirus tests for Tuesday will be updated as soon as possible, they said.

After being some of the first in the county to be infected with coronavirus, and since recovering, several Orange County Firefighters are now donating antibody-rich plasma. It will be used to help those suffering COVID-19.

On Monday, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced loosening restrictions to allow most of the counties in the stateto reopen businesses in his phase 2 plan. Orange County's officials are optimistic that many businesses will be open by the weekend.
