Cypress Shooting Leaves One Recovering from Surgery

A young man who was shot twice on Monday evening, near Cypress and Old McFadden Ave is expected to survive, according to Santa Ana Police.

Cypress, CA--A man who was shot twice while in the area of Cypress and Old McFadden Avenues on Monday evening is expected to survive, according to Santa Police.

The man --believed to be between 18- and 20-years-old underwent surgery the evening of July 11.

"The shooting occurred about 7:15 p.m. Monday near the area of Cypress and Old McFadden avenues, west of the Costa Mesa (55) Freeway," Santa Ana police Cmdr. Matt Sorenson said.

The victim was walking or riding a bicycle when the shooting occurred, Sorenson added, saying that it was not immediately clear if the incident was gang-related.

Authorities have no description of a suspect. Anyone with information in the shooting should contact Santa Ana police at (714) 245-8665 or anonymously via Crime Stoppers at (855) TIP-OCCS.
