Man Dies in Crash with Tree on Willow Street

Authorities today identified a motorist who was killed when the vehicle he was driving struck a tree in Long Beach.

The crash happened about 10:50 a.m. Wednesday at Willow Street and Nipomo Avenue, Marlene Arrona of the Long Beach Police Department said.

Mario Sistos, 48, of Long Beach died at the scene, the coroner’s office reported. He was the vehicle’s sole occupant, Arrona said.

Willow Street was closed between Studebaker Road and Palo Verde Avenue for about five hours while an investigation was conducted.
