Roadblock Crasher Charged With DUI, Assaulting Cops: OCDA

It's been seven months since this man raced through a roadblock at a fatal collision on Magnolia and Mint. Charges were filed this week.

WESTMINSTER, CA — The Orange County District Attorney's Office filed charges against an Orange County man who blasted through an intersection, nearly running down officers during a police investigation.

Fountain Valley Police officers closed the intersection of Magnolia Street and Mint Avenue on the night of Oct. 13 due to a fatal traffic collision. While that investigation was still underway a drunk driver careened through the blocked off area at speed more than 60 miles-per-hour, cops said. Now, the Orange County District Attorney's Office has charged Westminster resident Matthew Snoyman, 34, with multiple counts related to that incident.

The OCDA's office has accused Snoyman of driving under the influence as he "attempted to run down two Fountain Valley Police Officers" with his car, leading to an officer-involved shooting incident, the OCDA said. Snoyman then made a U-turn, driving off through police tape and traffic cones until officers ultimately arrested him.

Snoyman was "driving with blood alcohol more than .23," OCDA Senior Deputy District Attorney Paul Chrisopoulos said. He is set for arraignment on May 30 at the Westminster West Justice Center.
