Seal Beach Athletic Store Robbed, 3 Arrested
$14,000 in merchandise from the Private Sneakers store in Seal Beach was found stuffed inside a LB suspect's car after it struck a hydrant.
SEAL BEACH, CA ā Two men and 17-year-old boy suspected of stealing nearly $14,000 worth of athletic wear from a shoe and clothing store in Seal Beach were arrested over the weekend, police said. All three fled their get-away vehicle, left stuffed full of merchandise, upon crashing into a fire hydrant.
Early Sunday morning, Seal Beach police responded to a report of a commercial burglary at the Private Sneakers store on the 12000 block of Seal Beach Blvd., police said.
"A witness saw three suspects stealing merchandise from the closed business and watched as they fled the scene in a silver vehicle," Seal Beach Police Department Sgt. Nick Nicholas said.

Officers located the vehicle and attempted to pull it over, but the driver drove off.
That pursuit ended with a crash into a fire hydrant, sending a geyser into the night at the intersection of Westminster Boulevard and Bolsa Chica Road in Westminster, Nicholas said.

The suspects fled the from the crashed vehicle and into a nearby neighborhood. Westminster police and a Huntington Beach police air unit assisted in searching for the suspects, one of whom voluntarily surrendered, Nicholas said.
Another suspect was found hiding in a trash can and the last under pool equipment in a home's back yard, Nicholas said.
Officers recovered 280 pieces of clothing and accessories worth nearly $14,000 from the vehicle and the items were later returned to the store.

The adult suspects, Long Beach residents Darryl Williams, 18, posted bond and Desmond Maglory, 20, remains at the Orange County Jail. His scheduled court date was July 11, and he is being held on $50,000 bail.
The juvenile, whose name and place of residence were not disclosed, was released to his parents.
