Summer Beach Patrol Team Hits The Sand In Seal Beach

The team will be patrolling throughout Seal Beach, Main Street and the beach area in anticipation of increased crowds this summer.

SEAL BEACH, CA — The Seal Beach Police Department's Community-Oriented Policing Team is getting ready to deploy for the summer season in anticipation of the increased crowds and summer activity in the city.

The two-officer team will be patrolling the city, Main Street and the beach area from Memorial Day through the Labor Day weekend, Seal Beach Police Chief Michael Henderson told Patch.

“We normally see a large increase in tourists to our city during the summer months because of our beautiful beaches, popular Main Street, and excellent weather,”Henderson told Patch. “But this increase in population also creates an increase in potential criminal activity. By dedicating these two officers to patrol our busiest areas, our goal is to ensure the safety of residents, visitors and businesses.”

The two officers chosen for the summer assignment were chosen due to their proactivity and dedication to the City of Seal Beach, Henderson said. Their main goal will be to keep the most trafficked areas of Seal Beach safe by being a uniformed presence and by preventing crimes.

The officers will patrol on foot, in cars, on bike and in off-road vehicles.
