Traffic Stop Leads To Police Shooting On Salinaz Drive

A police shooting after a traffic stop near Los Alamitos caused alarm for area residents near Salinaz Drive.

GARDEN GROVE, CA — A traffic stop led to a non-injury officer- involved-shooting Monday in Garden Grove, according to authorities.

The officer involved shooting began when police pulled over a vehicle at 11500 block of Salinaz Dr. in the area of Newhope street, south of Trask Avenue at just before 1:45 p.m., the Orange County Register reported.

As officers approached the car, the OIS took place, the newspaper reported.

It's unknown who fired first or what precipitated the shooting. No one was hit by the gunfire. It's unknown if anyone in the car that was stopped was arrested or if a gun was recovered at the scene.

No one from the Garden Grove police was available for comment at the time of this report.
