Today's riddle: What has a neck but no head? 🤔 (Answer below!)
• Palm Beach ranks among the wealthiest suburbs in the U.S. See list (miramarflnews.com) — Los Altos ranks among the nation's wealthiest suburbs, with average household income topping $417,000 and home values around $4.8 million, according to a new MoneyLion analysis. The list, focused on affluent communities near major metros, places Los Altos alongside places like Scarsdale, Paradise Valley and Palm Beach, underscoring just how economically elite this Silicon Valley suburb has become.
• Honoring Grace Brett: A lifetime of love, resilience and gratitude (wintersexpress.com) — A longtime Winters resident being honored for Elder Day actually spent her formative years in Los Altos, where she grew up, met her future husband and saw him become one of the city's first police officers. Her story traces childhood memories of biking Los Altos streets and cutting apricots, through wartime moves, single parenthood, a Highway Patrol career, and a later life grounded in faith, travel, and family.
• Steve Jobs' Middle School Science Fair Project Sells For $34,375 (macobserver.com) — A piece of Steve Jobs' childhood—a middle school science fair project—just sold at auction for $34,375, and it once sat among his belongings at the family home in Los Altos. His stepbrother kept the project after Jobs declined to reclaim boxes from that Los Altos house, and has since turned several of those early mementos into high-priced collectibles.
