St. Mary's Catholic Church in Los Gatos
How the small Jesuit Mission Church has changed over the years.
In the early 1870s, the Jesuits of Santa Clara erected a small wooden
church on property they owned on Santa Cruz Avenue.
St. Mary Mission was given parish status in 1912 and turned over to the San Francisco Archdiocese.
In that same year, the church was moved to the corner of Bean and Tait avenues where it became the nave of a new church completed in 1914.

By 1960, this church was too small for the growing parish community and it was replaced by today's contemporary mission style structure with seating for 958 which was dedicated Dec. 30, 1962.
