The Metamorphosis of the Malibu Library

The Malibu Library will reopen on Sunday.

"If you have a garden and a library you have everything you need."
Cicero (Roman Statesman, Philosopher, and Lawyer)

Tomorrow, on Earth Day 2012, you can find everything you need. The Malibu Library has undergone a metamorphosis and it opens, complete with a new outdoor garden area.

Come see and feel the results of a community taking action in a united way to make Malibu and maybe even the world a bit better.

Thank you Malibu for making the metamorphosis of the library possible. May it serve as a beacon of light and hope which honors our past, inspires the present, and leaves a legacy of the love of reading and learning for the future.

Even though President Obama won't be at our library in person, his words can remind us why libraries are so important.  “More than a building that houses books and data, the library has always been a window to a larger world--a place where we've always come to discover big ideas and profound concepts that help move the American story forward.

Libraries remind us that truth isn't about who yells the loudest, but who has the right information. Because even as we're the most religious of people, America's innovative genius has always been preserved because we also have a deep faith in facts.

And so the moment we persuade a child, any child, to cross that threshold into a library, we've changed their lives forever, and for the better. This is an enormous force for good.”
