PCH Reopens; Mudslide Prompts Multiple Road Closures In Malibu
Residents living in or immediately downstream should shelter in place and move to the highest locations in their homes, officials said.

MALIBU, CA – A mudslide has prompted multiple road closures in Malibu due to flooding and mud, debris, and rocks on the roadways. Pacific Coast Highway was closed Thursday morning, but has since reopened.
The current status as of 12:55 p.m. of road closures is below, per the City of Malibu:
- Encinal Canyon Road is fully closed in both directions
- Decker Canyon Road is fully closed in both directions
- Cuthbert Road is closed until further notice. Motorists can use Busch Drive or Philip Avenue as alternate routes around the closure.
- Rainsford Place is closed at the Arizona Crossing
- Bonsall Drive is closed at the Arizona Crossing
Kanan Dume Road is reopened, the City of Malibu said, but with recurring rocks and mud. Drivers should expect rocks and mud on all canyon roads.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning from 7:50 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. for the Woolsey and Hill Fire burn areas in Ventura and Los Angeles County. Heavy rain is falling in the area, with 0.33 inch 30 minutes, the city said. Flash flooding and limited debris flows are expected are expected in the burn area.
The warning areas include Malibu Canyon, Las Virgenes and Kanan Dume roads and PCH at the north (west) end of Malibu.

Residents living in or immediately downstream should shelter in place and move to a second story or the highest location in your home to stay out of the path of fast-moving water and debris flows, officials said.
Malibu schools are closed Thursday in the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District.
