No Outages Reported In Malibu Tuesday Night
SCE warned of a possible Public Safety Power Shutoff in western Malibu, but no outages were reported.
MALIBU, CA — Despite reports that power outages may hit western Malibu Tuesday night to prevent wildfires, no outages were reported, according to city spokesperson Matt Myerhoff.
After a day when a 10-acre fire burned in Topanga Canyon, and the errant truck that may have caused that fire engaged in a police standoff that shut down Pacific Coast Highway for a few hours, word of a possible public safety power shutoff came as unwelcome news.
Southern California Edison that the area in the Galahad Circuit, which runs from Big Sycamore Canyon to midway through Point Dume and into Ramirez Canyon, might lose power from Sept. 8 at 9 PM to Sept. 9 at 3 a.m., and sent out a briefing on how to prepare and how to get in touch with help during a blackout.

However, no blackouts were reported Tuesday night or Wednesday. According to Southern California Edison, the nearest blackout to Malibu as of 3:23 Wednesday is taking place in Beverly Hills, and is not part of any planned outages.
Over a weekend of record-setting heat, 70,000 people in Los Angeles and 20,991 more in Los Angeles County lost power, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and Southern California Edison.
