• Malibu Could Face Greater Coastal Erosion Risk as Strong El Niño Builds (westsidecurrent.com) — Malibu could see worsening coastal erosion and flooding this winter as a potentially record-strong El Niño combines high surf, king tides, and heavy rain with already-damaged stretches of Pacific Coast Highway. City officials say they're working with Caltrans and regional partners on erosion hot spots, while agencies build sand berms and brace for possible inland flooding as well.
   

• Pepperdine men's water polo opens season with national and conference recognition — The Malibu Times (malibutimes.com) — Pepperdine's Malibu-based men's water polo team is launching its season with a No. 8 national ranking and a third-place conference projection, giving local fans plenty to watch.
