Officers initially responded to a Torrance home for reports of a suspect destroying property.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA – A knife-wielding suspect was found wounded Monday evening after he fled an officer-involved shooting in Torrance and remained at large for several hours.

Officers initially responded about 11:30 a.m. to reports of a suspect destroying property at a home in the 18800 block of Florwood Avenue, but the man was gone by the time they arrived, according to Torrance Police Department Sgt. Ronald Harris.

Officers completed their vandalism investigation, but were called back to the home about 1 p.m. because the unidentified suspect had returned, Harris said.
