Man Fatally Shot in South Bay Identified as David Macias
Macias was wounded about 9 p.m. Monday in the 4600 block of Imperial Highway and died at a hospital.

HAWTHORNE, CA -- Authorities Friday identified a man killed in a shooting in Hawthorne earlier this week.
David Macias, 39, of Hawthorne was wounded about 9 p.m. Monday in the 4600 block of Imperial Highway and died at a hospital, according to the coroner's office and the sheriff's department.
In an unrelated crime, Jacare Smith, 36, of Hawthorne was fatally shot about 3:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 3800 block of El Segundo Boulevard. Another person was wounded in that attack.

Sheriff's homicide detectives were assisting Hawthorne police in the investigations. Anyone with information on either crime was urged to call the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500, or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222- TIPS.
