Man Killed in Hawthorne Shooting Identified
The shooting also left another man wounded, authorities said. This was the second homicide in the city in as many days.

HAWTHORNE, CA -- Authorities Wednesday identified a man killed in Hawthorne in a shooting that left another man wounded.
Jacare Smith, 36, of Hawthorne died at the scene of the shooting, which occurred about 3:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 3800 block of El Segundo Boulevard.
The survivor was taken to a hospital for treatment of a wound to his hand. No arrests were reported.

It was the second homicide in the city in as many days.
At 8:55 p.m. Monday, a man was gunned down in the 4600 block of Imperial Highway. The two killings were unrelated, the sheriff's department reported.

The victim's name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives.
Sheriff's homicide detectives were assisting Hawthorne police in the investigations. Anyone with information on either crime was urged to call the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500, or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222- TIPS.
