Manhattan Beach Residents Help Police Catch Robbers
A man and woman were seen burglarizing a vehicle, and Manhattan Beach residents stepped in to assist Manhattan Beach Police.
MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — Yesterday afternoon around 1:15 p.m., a Manhattan Beach resident called 911 to report a male and female burglarizing a vehicle in the 600th block of 19th street. Simultaneously, the owner of the vehicle saw the female suspect inside of the car, according to a Manhattan Beach Police Department statement.
When the female suspect, Danielle Justyn Hastings, 20, saw she was being watched, she attempted to ride off on a bicycle, and the owner of the vehicle chased Hastings while the male suspect fled in the other direction. As the vehicle owner held Hastings' bicycle, she struck him in the face with her fist and fled the area, according to the MBPD statement.
When Manhattan Beach Police officers arrived, they located Hastings at Live Oak Park, and the male suspect, unidentified at this time, was located by officers near Marine Avenue and Pacific Avenue. Both were booked at the Manhattan Beach jail and charged with conspiracy to commit a felony and robbery, according to the MBPD statement.
