Teen Killed In Hawthorne Shooting Friday Identified

David Najera, 19, was killed Friday evening at Jim Thorpe Park. Police are searching for the shooter but have no description of the suspect.

HAWTHORNE, CA -- Authorities Wednesday identified a young man who was killed in a shooting at a park in Hawthorne.

The shooting was reported at 6:58 p.m. Friday at Jim Thorpe Park, 14100 S. Prairie Ave., said Deputy Trina Schrader of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which is assisting Hawthorne police in the investigation.

David Najera, 19, of Hawthorne died at a hospital, the coroner's office reported. There was no description of the shooter.
