Urban Plates Providing Meals For Health Care Workers
A $12 meal donation at Urban Plates provides two meals for local health care workers.
MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — Restaurant chain Urban Plates — which has a location in Manhattan Beach — has launched a new program that will provide healthy meals for health care workers amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The "Nourishing Heroes" program encourages customers to sponsor a $12 meal in support of local health care workers. For every meal sponsored, Urban Plates will donate a second meal — up to 1,000 meals matched per week.
"Good nutrition is more important than ever in times of stress. It's imperative that health care staff — who are working tirelessly to keep us safe — are eating healthy meals," said Saad Nadhir, CEO and co-founder of Urban Plates, which is headquartered in Encinitas. "We are leaning into what we do best: providing clean, wholesome meals that are as delicious as they are nutritious."
