MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — Manhattan Beach Mayor Hildy Stern delivered an online State of the City address, which can be viewed online.

Stern discussed the city’s recovery from the pandemic and efforts to provide vaccinations; construction projects; coastal dune restoration projects, and more.

  • Continued in-person traditions like Concerts in the Park, the Manhattan Beach Open, 6-Man Beach Volleyball Tournament, the Hometown Fair, Pier Lighting, and fireworks
  • Collaborated with the Beach Cities Health District and Manhattan Beach Unified School District to host a vaccination center at Adventure Plex
  • Expanded its temporary outdoor dining program throughout the state emergency order
  • Maintained a balanced budget and received a AAA credit rating
  • Received $1.5 million from FEMA and $1.2 million from the American Rescue Plan Act
  • Conducted a statistically valid citywide survey on community priorities
  • Contributed to a regional approach to addressing homelessness that placed several unhoused individuals into housing or treatment services
  • Completed the Block 39 Water Tower
  • Made progress on the Peck Reservoir replacement project, and the Sepulveda Bridge widening project
  • Broke ground on Fire Station Number 2 and Polliwog Park lower playground
  • Collaborated with a number of state and local organizations on the Beach Dune Restoration Project to enhance approximately three acres of existing dunes

  • Became the first certified Blue City for its commitment to healthy waterways and oceans
