Woman Dies After Being Shot in South Bay

HAWTHORNE, CA - A young woman was shot Wednesday in Hawthorne and died at a hospital, authorities said.
The shooting was reported about 2:45 a.m. in the 11000 block of South Oxford Avenue, said coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter.
The woman, who was in her 20s, died at a hospital about a half hour later, Winter said. Her name was withheld, pending family notification.
