Woman Shot in South Bay Apartment ID'd

HAWTHORNE, CA — Authorities on Tuesday identified a woman who was fatally shot in a Hawthorne apartment.

Officers responded about 2:15 a.m. Wednesday to a report of shots fired in the 11700 block of South Oxford Avenue and found the victim, according to Hawthorne police Lt. A. Yoshida.

She was identified as Shaniece Davis, 27, of Hawthorne, said coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter said.

Homicide detectives were investigating the crime.
