70-Foot Cabin Cruiser Beaches on Playa Del Rey
No one was injured. Sheriff's deputies are investigating.

A 70-foot cabin cruiser ran aground just south of Ballona Creek in Playa del Rey today, but no one was injured.
Three people and three dogs got off the boat safely about 4:30 a.m., according to the sheriff's Marina del Rey Station.

"The captain of the vessel awoke to his boat dragging anchor," according to a sheriff's statement. "His attempts to start the vessel's engines were unsuccessful, and before responding rescue units could arrive, his vessel went aground in heavy seas."
Sheriff's deputies and Los Angeles County lifeguards assisted the people and animals off the boat and took them to the Marina del Rey Station, where they were being assisted by the American Red Cross.

"Options are being considered for the removal of the vessel," according to the sheriff's department.
