Baseball Bat-Wielding Teen Holds Off Alleged Burglar

Los Angeles County Deputies from Marina Del Rey substation responded to Tueday's 4:51 a.m. incident.

A 15-year-old boy with a baseball bat confronted a parolee allegedly caught burglarizing the teen's Windsor Hills home Tuesday, authorities said today.

Responding to a burglary report at a home in the 5800 block of Mansfield Avenue, deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Marina del Rey substation arrived to find the boy and his father holding the man, according to a department statement.

The boy told deputies he confronted the suspect with a baseball bat and yelled to alert his father, who helped him hold the suspect, who had a knife on him, deputies said.

Reportedly no one was seriously injured.

Deputies said they later discovered that another attempted burglary had occurred on the same block about three hours earlier.

The suspect, whose name was withheld, was recently released from prison, deputies said.
