In an effort to support the teen's family, $3,100 had been raised of a $15,000 goal as of Wednesday morning through a website established in the memory of another deceased Martinez teen.

The website, Hersmile.org, is part of a nonprofit created after the death of 14-year-old Martinez Junior High School student Jenna Betti, who was tragically struck by a train in Martinez in 2014.

Parrilla went to the same junior high school.

Martinez Unified School District's grief counselors were made available there as well as Morello Park Elementary School, another school he attended.
