Suspect, 24, Accused Of Stabbing Homeless Man In Concord Park

The incident led to Wednesday's brief lockdown of John Muir's ER in Concord.

Police this morning are investigating a Wednesday stabbing in Concord that sent a 59-year-old man to the hospital.

A 24-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with the stabbing, police said. Officers at 3:03 p.m. responded to the Join Muir Hospital Concord Campus on a report of a stabbing.

The victim, a 59-year-old transient man, was in Baldwin Park when a 24-year-old man from Richmond approached him, police said. The two men got into a verbal argument, and the suspect pulled a knife and stabbed the victim, police said. The victim walked into the hospital for medical treatment and is expected to survive the stabbing, police said.

Officers searched the area and located the suspect in Baldwin Park.

He was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, police said. The stabbing it not believed to be gang-related.
