Suspect In Death Of 17-Year-Old Antioch Girl Arrested

Authorities initially investigated the death as suspicious but later ruled out a violent attack.

ANTIOCH, CA — Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal hit-and-run death of a 17-year-old Antioch girl whose body was found on a city roadway earlier this month, authorities said.

The Antioch Police Department said officers executed search warrants on Feb. 3 at two residences in Pittsburg and Antioch as part of the investigation. Police arrested 26-year-old Jamir Wilsont on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and recovered evidence from both locations, according to the department.

The case stems from the death of Jeana Flores, 17, whose body was discovered around 3:33 a.m. Friday in the area of L Street between West 18th and West 10th streets, police said. Authorities initially investigated the death as suspicious but later ruled out a violent attack.

The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office determined that Flores was struck by a vehicle, leading investigators to reclassify the case as a fatal hit-and-run. The Antioch Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit is leading the investigation, police said.

Authorities initially withheld Flores’ identity and confirmed only that she was not a student in the Antioch Unified School District. In a statement, police said evidence gathered by investigators, along with the coroner’s findings, supported the conclusion that she was hit by a vehicle.

According to reports, Flores was last seen on Thursday night at a family friend’s home. Her father, Joseph Flores, told KTVU that his daughter left the home shortly after 9 p.m. to walk back, and her body was later found early Friday morning. He described Jeana as funny, bubbly, and strong-willed, calling her fierce, witty, and kind-hearted.

Police said the investigation remains active and no additional information is being released at this time. The case is expected to be filed with the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office later this week, and the department’s Investigations Bureau will issue any future updates.
