Newsom signs bill to end child marriage in California (nbclosangeles.com) — Maywood is highlighted among California cities that backed a new state law setting 18 as the minimum age for marriage and domestic partnerships, ending child marriage statewide. The change follows years of advocacy by survivors and groups like Global Hope 365, and means future underage marriages involving Maywood families will no longer be allowed, even with parental or court consent.
