We are the only organization that delivers essential services and personalized support to connect the people living in poverty among us to the full range of resources and services they need. Reading Partners is a non-profit organization that mobilizes community volunteers to provide one-on-one tutoring to elementary students who struggle with reading. We are seeking dedicated volunteers to tutor for one hour a week at Belle Haven Elementary in Menlo Park. Volunteer schedules are flexible; our reading center is open Monday through Thursday 9AM to 4:30PM. Tutors are paired with the same student all semester to build a strong mentoring relationship. No tutoring experience is required to volunteer. Tutors are provided with an easy-to-follow curriculum that includes all of the books and step-by-step lesson plans needed to teach essential reading skills. Each reading center also has a on-site staff member to support tutors and students at all times. Reading Partners volunteers make an enormous impact: on average, students double their rate of learning while enrolled in the program.
