Anonymous Person Bids $3.5 Million For Lunch With Warren Buffett In SF-Area Fundraiser

GLIDE agency serves the marginalized and impoverished population of San Francisco.

SANΒ FRANCISCO -- A 6-day eBay auction forΒ lunch with investor Warren Buffett ended Friday evening with the top bidder paying $3.5 million that will go to benefit people who get help from San Francisco's social service agency GLIDE.

The anonymous bidder paid $3,456,789 by the time the auction bell rang at 7:30 p.m.

"GLIDEΒ is a bridge for thousands of people on the brink of despair, helping them achieve dignity and opportunity by providing them with basic services," Buffett said in a statement.Β

The winner and up to seven friends will have lunch with the famous investor and philanthropist at the New York City steakhouse Smith & Wollensky.Β 

This year's auction is the 17th annual one that has helped raise more than $20 million for GLIDE.
