World Series Trophy Visits Millbrae Library

Giants World Series Trophy visits local MVP (Most Valuable Place): the Millbrae library.

My son loves baseball.  He played on a Millbrae Lion's team this spring and he likes to watch the Giants games on T.V.  So it was no surprise that he added "go see trophy" to the calendar on Monday, June 13. Ginny, the children's librarian, had been to his school in May to let all the kids know the trophy would be making a visit.

His sisters and I pulled into the parking lot at 12:30 p.m., and got in a line to wait for our turn to take a photo with the trophy.  While we waited, we saw many familiar Millbrae families,  some wearing Giants shirts and caps.  Once the trophy arrived, the line moved quickly.  We got our photo and a chance to it up close. He was thrilled.

Of course, the summer reading program is also being kicked off this week. There are reading logs and prizes for all ages,  even adults. We checked out 13 items: books for all three kids and myself,  two DVDs and one CD.  Our book bag was full, and plans to return to the library every week to see what's new are now part of our summer.

If Millbrae does have a MVP (Most Valuable Place)  it must certainly be the library. Thanks must go to the Friends of the Millbrae Library for helping provide an abundance of free activities: story times, chess and board games, crafts, book sales and even reading to dogs!  For more info check out the library website at www.smcl.org.

The patient library staff,  the patio and cozy reading areas in the children's section, and a great selection of free entertainment from books to music CDs and DVDs make it one of my favorite mama resources for the long days of summer.
