Does Someone Owe You Money? Part Nine of Patch's Very Long Series
Thousands of Millbrae residents and businesses have unclaimed property and money in the hands of banks and other organizations. This week's names are Pazizeo through Savatese.

Every year millions of dollars in cash and other valuables (not including real estate) are turned over to the California State Controller by financial institutions, insurance companies, corporations and other business enterprises under provisions of the state's Unclaimed Property Law requiring the state to take custody of the property if there has been no contact between the individual or organization "owning" the property and those "holding" the property for4 a period of three years.
This property includes bank accounts and the contents of safety deposit boxes, stock dividend payments, certificates of deposit and even entire estates. According to the Controller there are many reasons this property remains unclaimed: the owner forgets about the account, does not leave a forwarding address, the forwarding order expires or the owner does and their heirs don't know about the property.
Currently the State Controller is holding nearly $6 billion dollars in property belonging to almost 12 million individuals and businesses or other organizations. Hundreds of these have last known addresses in Millbrae. Does somebody owe you money?
