Millbrae Video Surveillance Registration Helps Put Burglars Behind Bars

MILLBRAE, CA — “Video surveillance gives my detectives the information they need to identify and arrest the criminals who are violating our homes and property,” said Millbrae Police Chief Roger Copeland.

Recently, the Millbrae Police Bureau announced the creation of its video surveillance registration program for residents and businesses in the City of Millbrae, to voluntarily register the locations of their video surveillance systems.

Video surveillance is a great crime fighting tool and has assisted law enforcement in apprehending and convicting criminals.

“This new program is a great tool in helping us identify and arrest criminals, but we need residents and businesses to register their cameras with us to make it successful,” said Chief Copeland.

Local residents and businesses can register their video surveillance cameras by clicking on the link below, and filling out the registration form:

Program participants then need to e-mail their completed forms to: VideoSurveillance@ci.millbrae.ca.us

The contact information for program participants will be stored by the Millbrae Police Bureau.

If a crime occurs in their area, a member of the Millbrae Police Bureau may contact them asking to view video footage for a specific date and time.

If recordings related to a crime have been captured, the participating resident or business may be asked to provide a copy of the footage to the Millbrae Police Bureau.

“This program is voluntary, and we will not collect video unrelated to crimes, but we need people to participate to help us put the bad guys behind bars,” said Chief Copeland.
