School Board Addresses Progress
Trustees talked about new programs, learning opportunities, the budget and donations.

The Millbrae School District board of trustees met on Nov. 8 to address the progress of schools and project their financial needs.
Principal David Erwin started the meeting by presenting the Word Generation Program, free online software that enriches students' vocabulary on a weekly basis.
"I think it's very important for our students to know how rich our language is," said trustee Don Revelo. "If you don't express yourself well, you won't get where you want to be in life."

Six Taylor students, a boy and a girl from each middle school grade, showed trustees the wide array of words they learned since the program's start in October.
"Most of our students have been receptive to it," said Erwin on the school's reaction to the newly incorporated learning program.

has a total of 847 students, and offers electives such as drama and spanish classes, with a yearbook class and a broadcast journalism course in the works.
In other affairs, Superintendent Linda Luna provided updates of the 211 Bay Area Service, coming in February 2011, which will address citizens' questions regarding county health and human service agencies.
She also congratulated the women of the that recently raised $60,000 for students.
Luna recently visited every classroom of and Elementary Schools and attended a lunch at Elementary. Report cards for all schools will be mailed before Thanksgiving Day.
The board also approved the 45-day budget revision presented by Cynthia Shieh and Sheldon Chavan, and approved donations from local businesses.
Businesses like , Xerox, Target, and made kind contributions to all four elementary schools.
The board of trustees will meet again on Monday, Nov. 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the district's office.
