The Millbrae Waste of Money "Together We Decide" Fliers.

Those fliers seem to be nothing more than a way for the City officials to appear concerned about the welfare of Millbrae, and pretend that the residents actually have a real voice in the running of our city. That certainly must have given the city officials a little secret conspiratorial giggle amongst themselves! We need a solid plan, and not some "airy fairy" sweet wishes, empty promises, and no substance ideas! Those have been much too plentiful in our local government thus far! We need action NOW; not hopes for some vague time in the future! We need to have people with the fuel, fire and desire to get it DONE! Millbrae is sinking FAST, and it is a disgrace! It is embarrassing to frequently hear newscasters speak of Millbrae, as the financially beleaguered city!
   One problem with the heavy stock, full color fliers and comment cards is that the written content wasn't anything that anyone hasn't heard in a campaign speech! (All fluff, and no substance!) They were most likely very expensive, most people won't read them, and will put them in the trash (all of which makes a mockery of the comment by former Mayor Gina Papan, about "reducing our carbon footprint!") The final kicker is that the comment card actually has an EXPIRATION DATE ON IT, AS IF IT WERE A CONTEST ENTRY! Is there an expiration on how long people can share their thoughts on the welfare of Millbrae? Does that mean that if the cards are POSTMARKED AFTER February 18, 2014, residents ARE NOT WELCOME TO GIVE THEIR THOUGHTS?
     I am sorry, but residents have been expressing their feelings all along! If "the powers that be" would read the Patch posts, really listen at meetings, pay attention to
emails and phone calls, and actually live here and be a part of our community, perhaps they wouldn't need to spend money Millbrae doesn't have, to make it seem like they really do care! People are frustrated with the inaction of Millbrae government, and having their reasonable, money-saving, and resident protecting suggestions not only ignored, but stonewalled by the city government members at every opportunity! When that habit becomes the city's usual procedure, residents who are just trying to get by in life get discouraged, and like a beaten dog, take the path of least resistance. Eventually they stop trying at all! I wish I could say the value of the comment cards is worth the paper on which they have been printed...but they are not! The printing company got the better deal, not the residents of Millbrae!
     The time has come for all government to be more transparent! Halt the behind-closed-doors deals, and stop any practice of doing end run maneuvers around the wishes of the residents!
We deserve MUCH BETTER! Also, cut unnecessary spending, ridiculously high salaries, and BRING BACK OUR POLICE DEPARTMENT! Thank you!
