AAA Offers Free Tows On Thanksgiving Eve In Northern California

AAA Northern California is offering its free Tipsy Tow service to prevent drinking and driving on the eve of Thanksgiving.

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA – AAA is giving drivers another reason to be thankful this Thanksgiving. AAA is offering its free Tipsy Tow service Wednesday night in Northern California to ensure that people get home safe from Thanksgiving Eve festivities.

"The Wednesday before Thanksgiving has become a popular night for bars and restaurants," said Michael Blasky, spokesman for AAA Northern California. "We urge Californians to celebrate responsibly this holiday season and encourage them to take advantage of this free AAA resource, if necessary."

The service will be available from 6 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday in Northern California.

Drivers, passengers, party hosts, bartenders, restaurant managers and anyone who would like to hail a ride just need to call 1-800-AAA-HELP or 1-800-222-4357 and ask for a "tipsy tow" to receive a free ride home and vehicle tow of up to 10 miles.

The service is not just for existing AAA members. Motorists will be charged a standard towing rate for towing beyond 10 miles. The service does not include roadside assistance.
