EXHIBITION on SCREEN A cinematic immersion into the world’s best loved art

When we think about the beginning of the school year, we think about new teachers, new friends, new expectations, and all of the logistics of parenting a school-aged child. And then comes the push for more independence, the nightly meltdown that didn’t happen last year, or the “please don’t talk to me in front of my friends.” We may find ourselves wondering what happened and how did we get here? It’s easy to feel lost when our children enter a new developmental stage. We may understand what to expect from a parenting book or article, but it can be much harder to recognize and respond to these changes when they show up at home. In this workshop, we’ll explore the developmental stages of the elementary and middle school years, what to expect as children grow and change, and practical ways to navigate these new phases while strengthening communication, connection, and understanding with your child.

Guide Dogs For The Blind Inc

Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB) will celebrate its guide dog team graduates every other Saturday with public graduation ceremonies at the organization’s campus in San Rafael. These touching public events have inspired tears in even the most stoic audience members, as graduating guide dog teams proudly take the stage. Families are welcome at the ceremonies, which honor the enhanced safety, independence, and companionship that GDB’s guide dogs provide for GDB’s clients who are blind or visually impaired. The events also allow GDB’s clients to meet the puppy raisers who cared for their dogs prior to beginning formal training at GDB’s campus. Ceremonies also recognize recent graduates of GDB’s Orientation andMobility (O&amp;M) Program and K9 Buddy Program, as well as newly placed Breeder Dogs.

Admission is free, and Kleenex will be provided. Pre-registered bus groups are welcome. Public tours of the campus are offered on the days of the ceremonies. Guide Dogs for the Blind's Graduation Ceremonies Melt Hearts

Please join the families of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Mill Valley, for our annual Blessing of the Animals, which will be held on Sunday, October 4, at 4:00pm, in the North Bridge Academy / Church Parking Lot, 17 Buena Vista Avenue, Mill Valley. Our priest in residence, Fr. Bill Brown, a self-proclaimed lover of animals, will be offering the blessing.
Many Catholic churches around the world traditionally celebrate the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi with an invitation for their local community members to bring their pets for a communal blessing. Fr. Patrick Michaels, pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, says that, “Francis saw God’s hand in every aspect of Creation. In blessing our pets – those creatures of Divine Ingenuity – we give thanks for the blessings they are in our lives.” St. Francis is said to have preached to and blessed attentive birds, tamed a wolf, and freed animals from traps. In this event, we celebrate the many ways in which God’s care reaches beyond the human to encompass all of Creation. 
One parish friend remarked that, for animal lovers, “this blessing is a sight to see.” In addition to dogs and cats, past attendees have included fish, birds, guinea pigs, lizards, turtles and snakes; in the case of animals unable to travel or socialize, owners have brought pictures to share. 

Please note that you do not have to have a pet to attend. If you prefer not to bring your pet, feel free to bring a photograph. All pets should be under the direct control of their owners, either on a leash or appropriately contained, at all times.
