Coronavirus: Golden Gate National Recreation Area Closes Lots
Golden Gate National Recreation Area will scale back services outside of visitor and resource protection to slow the spread of COVID-19.
BAY AREA, CA — Golden Gate National Recreation Area announced Thursday that it will scale back services outside of visitor and resource protection in an effort to slow the spread of the new coronavirus. The decision was made in response to guidance from the Marin and San Francisco county health departments.
"The health and safety of our visitors, employees, volunteers, and partners at Golden Gate National Recreation Area is our number one priority," a news release said.
Services and operations will remain closed at the following sites until further notice:

Marin County
- Muir Woods National Monument
- Marin Headlands Visitor Center
- Nike Missile site; Point Bonita Lighthouse
- Stinson Beach parking
- Kirby Cove and Bicentennial campgrounds
San Francisco County

- Presidio Visitor Center
- Fort Point National Historic Site
- Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Center
- Lands End Lookout
In addition, the following beach and recreation site parking lots will be closed in Marin and San Francisco counties to comply with state and local health guidelines:
Marin County
- Muir Beach Overlook parking
- Muir Beach parking
- Rodeo Beach parking
- Upper Conzelman Road (scenic overlook road from Golden Gate Bridge views to Point Bonita area)
San Francisco County
- Baker Beach parking
- West Bluff parking
- Long Avenue parking
- Battery East parking
- Langdon Court parking
- Navy Memorial parking
- Merrie Way parking
- Sloat Boulevard parking at Ocean Beach

Park rangers will remain on duty in areas that are still open to the public. Parks will also continue offering limited trash services and bathroom access.
