Coroner IDs Motorcyclist Killed In Marin Co. Crash

MARIN COUNTY, CA – The 32-year-old motorcyclist who died following an accident Sunday near the Bolinas Lagoon was identified as Welmar Garcia, 32, of San Francisco, the Contra Costa County coroner's office said.

Garcia was flown from the 11 a.m. accident scene to the John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where he passed away around 1 p.m., officials said.

The California Highway Patrol said the crash was first reported at 10:54 a.m. on Highway 1 just south of Fairfax-Bolinas Road and near the Bolinas Lagoon in unincorporated Marin County.

Witnesses said the motorcyclist slid off the road into the rocky lagoon, according to the CHP. Bystanders helped the victim before he was hoisted into the CHP helicopter.
