Bay Area Flights Canceled Due To East Coast Storm

BAY AREA, CA – Dozens of flights headed for Bay Area airports have been canceled Tuesday as a result of Winter Storm Stella, a late-season nor'easter which has brought heavy snow from the Appalachian mountains to New England.

As of 2:15 p.m., a total of 69 inbound flights had been canceled. Most of those can be attributed to weather, but not all, according to the duty manager's office at San Francisco International Airport. There have also been 46 outbound flights canceled.

SFO has experienced a total of 39 inbound delays, although many of those may be unrelated to the storm.

Mineta San Jose International Airport has reported five inbound flights canceled today, including one from Baltimore, one from New York, one from Boston and two from Newark. All of those flights would have arrived
between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. tonight. There were also three departing flights canceled this morning, according to airport officials.

Both airports reported cancellations and delays to San Diego and Los Angeles today due to fog, which is unrelated to the heavy snow in the northeast.

Officials at Oakland International Airport were unaware of any delays or cancellations at their facility as a result of the storm this afternoon.
