Fee Increases Proposed At Marin Headlands Campgrounds

The National Park Service is seeking public comment on proposed day use and overnight camping fee increases at two campgrounds.

MARIN COUNTY, CA – The National Park Service is seeking public comment on proposed fee increases at two campgrounds in the Marin Headlands in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

The park service is proposing day use fees at Kirby Cove increase from $35 to $45 per day, and fees at the Kirby Cove campground increase from $25 to $30 per night. The fee increase at Kirby Cove campground is the first since 1997 and is in alignment with fees at other campgrounds in California, according to the park service.

Camping at the Bicentennial campground is currently free. The park service is proposing a $20 fee.

If approved, the fee increases would take effect in January.

Increased fees would support the expansion of an online reservation system and new campground amenities, according to the park service. Fees would support charcoal grills and the installation of a vault toilet at the Bicentennial campground, as well as ongoing campground operations at Kirby Cove.
