Man Rescued From Cliff In Marin County

MARIN COUNTY, CA – A man was rescued Saturday evening by a helicopter crew after he became stuck on a cliff in Marin County near the north tower of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Just after 6 p.m., Southern Marin Fire Protection District crews and U.S. Park police working to rescue the man requested help from a Sonoma County Sheriff's Office helicopter crew.

Sonoma County sheriff's officials said that the man was found clinging to the cliff near the Battery Spencer viewing area on the north side of the Golden Gate Bridge. He was about 300 feet above San Francisco Bay.

The helicopter arrived and a deputy, attached to a 100-foot long line, rescued the man from the cliff. He was flown to an awaiting medical crew, sheriff's officials said.

The man, who was from Southern California, was cold but not injured, according to the sheriff's office.
