Marin Murderer is Killed in Prison Cell, State Officials Say
The deceased inmate's cellmate is suspected in the man's death.

A California State Prison-Sacramento inmate who was convicted of a Marin County murder was killed in the prison Monday, a prison lieutenant said.
Correctional officers found the 53-year-old male inmate unresponsive in his cell around 8:20 p.m., prison spokesman Lt. Tony Quinn said. Despite lifesaving measures by custodial and medical staff, the inmate was pronounced dead at 8:48 p.m.

The deceased inmate’s cellmate, Rambo M. Martin, 26, is a suspect in the murder, Quinn said.
The deceased inmate has been in prison since June 10, 1983, and he was serving a life term with the possibility of parole for a first-degree murder in Marin County, Quinn said.

Prison staff have not been able to contact the person that the inmate listed as his sole next of kin, Quinn said.
Martin is serving eight years in prison for an assault with a firearm in San Bernardino County and a 4-year sentence from Kern County for assault by a prisoner with a deadly weapon, Quinn said. Martin has been in prison since November 2013, Quinn said.
