Mill Valley Police Urge Safety At Crosswalks
Police provided crosswalk safety tips for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists.

MILL VALLEY, CA – The Mill Valley Police Department shared crosswalk safety tips for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists this week.
The public announcement comes after Mill Valley police conducted a pedestrian crosswalk and awareness operation earlier in December.
In addition to offering safety tips, police advised residents to report dangerous driving situations by calling the department's non-emergency line at 415-389-4100 or fill out a dangerous driving report online at www.cityofmillvalley.org.

Tips For Pedestrians
- Only cross at marked crosswalks.
- Never assume that a vehicle will give you the right-of-way.
- Obey pedestrian signals and always look both ways before crossing.
- Make eye contact with any drivers approaching to ensure they see you before crossing.
- If walking in the dark carry a flashlight or wear bright or reflective colors on your clothing.
- Don't wear headphones or look at your cell phone when crossing the street.

- Remember bicyclists are not considered pedestrians.
- Yield to all pedestrians at a crosswalk.
- Do not pass vehicles that are stopped at a crosswalk.
- Obey all traffic signals and laws.
- Be visible to others by using a headlight and taillight at night.

- Stay alert when approaching a crosswalk.
- Yield to all pedestrians at a crosswalk.
- Always come to a complete stop if a pedestrian is or preparing to cross.
- Make sure that all pedestrians have made it fully across the street before proceeding.
- Never pass another vehicle that is stopped at a crosswalk or slowing down.
- Always use your lights and turn signals when appropriate.
